Outer space travels: Psychological and medical-biological aspects (in English)

S. A. Makhin, V. V. Buryak

Once being a strictly scientific research project, exploration of outer space has long ago become a part of a civilization planetary process. The scientific and technological progress and economic growth enforce the mankind in the course of its expansion to consider outer space and its objects (e.g. the nearest planets) as a sphere of research and possible exploitation of energetic, raw material, geopolitical, and other dimensions. Space flights are a principal part of cosmic research and will inevitably become a routine and widely spread practice in the future. Such travels will obviously entail considerable complications as long as the travel distances grow. Among the most important problematic aspects will be technological, medical, and anthropological ones. Given the multidimensional nature of human being-in-the-world and space flights in particular, of much relevance is to analyze the part of technologies, medicine, and human capacities under extreme extraterrestrial conditions.

Key words: outer space exploration, space travels, astromedicine, space psychology, anthropology.
